For over 50 years Morland have provided interior fit-out products for the leisure, construction and marine industries. One of the most frequently asked questions we receive is, what is profile wrapping and why should we consider it? With that in mind, who better to answer those questions than our resident expert and long serving key account manager Darren Piper.
What is profile wrapping?
Profile wrapping is a surface finishing method that comes in a variety of finishes. It allows a customer to choose different colours, textures, and finishes. It can be applied to timber, plastic and metals substrates. It’s a relatively simple process that’s faster than other finishing methods; essentially this is done by laminating a décor, with adhesive, on to a substrate surface, which is then pressed down by precisely positioned pressure rollers. Morland are able to offer a range of profiles and can work with customers to deliver what they need within a short space of time. Our state of the art production facility allows us to offer a full service, meaning we can saw, cut and mould timber to meet most profile requirements.
So why use a Morland wrapped profile?
There are obviously many different reasons why our customers choose to use a wrapped Morland profile but if I had to categorise them, it would usually fall into one of the following; Quick turnaround/customer service, improved durability and wider choice of finished.
Quick turnaround
With 1000’s of profiles already set up, for both leisure and construction customers, we can usually deliver profile orders in under 2 weeks. With significant investment last year in automation our speed and capacity has increased even further. Morland have been manufacturing for over 50 years and have become the go-to profile supplier for key customers in the leisure and construction industry, due to our ability to deliver on time and with the highest quality & consistency. If you’re looking for something more bespoke our technical team is able to support and work with you on drawings and potential tooling options, allowing us to deliver on most projects. With the ability to wrap timber, plastic & metal Morland have a solution for almost any interior fit-out project.
Improved durability
Timber profiles & furnishings can often absorb moisture through damage, impact or exposure to moisture, particularly in areas of high traffic or moisture. A wrapped profile provides an extra layer of protection that protects your product from impact and potential moisture ingress.
Wider range of colours, textures & design
Perhaps the most obvious reason customers choose to use Morland profile wrapping is for the design and look. Quite often we match a profile to existing furniture and doors or the profiles are used as a design feature to enhance the space. We work closely with foil and décor partners to offer an extensive range of colours and finishes to match any design, helping customers create the perfect space.
