Our History

A Journey of Innovation and Growth

1967

Our story begins with the establishment of our sister company, Newmor, in Welshpool. Founded by John Morris and his sons David and Hugh, Newmor starts manufacturing PVC-coated wallcoverings, setting the stage for Morland’s future success.

1972

Morland is born! We start laminating Newmor coverings onto timber panels for the caravan industry, marking our entry into the world of innovative interior solutions.

1975

We expand our horizons, importing plywood from the Far East to laminate and supply to the static caravan industry. This move solidifies our position in the leisure sector.

1985

Morland leads the way! We become one of the first UK companies to market Italian and Spanish poplar as a lightweight panel for caravan and motorhome manufacturers, showcasing our commitment to innovation.

1987

A new chapter begins as we open a factory dedicated to producing wrapped profiles for the leisure and furniture industries. We invest in cutting-edge saws, moulders, and wrapping lines, enhancing our production capabilities.

2001

Expansion continues with a new division at Unit 2 Buttington Cross, focusing on processing panels and profiles into furniture components and systems.

2005

To meet growing demand, we construct Unit 10 Buttington Cross, increasing our production capacity.

2009

Morland diversifies, venturing into the production of fire doors and doorsets, broadening our product range.

2015

A significant milestone! We acquire Unit 4 Buttington Cross, bringing our total production space to over 200,000 sqft. This allows us to centralize all operations on a single site, improving efficiency.

2017

Morland and Newmor celebrate 50 years of success with a grand party for all staff and their families at Powys Castle. A moment to reflect on our journey and look forward to the future.

2018

The torch is passed to the next generation as James Morris, grandson of the founder, takes the helm as Managing Director after 15 years in the business.

2020

Adapting to challenging times, we invest in our e-commerce platform to support sales during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring we continue to meet our customers’ needs.

2021

Morland BV is established to facilitate trading with EU customers following the UK’s exit from the Single Market and Customs Union, demonstrating our commitment to serving our European clientele.
